Baltimore Ravens Name Ted Lasso as Head Coach
Owings Mills, MD — In a move that blends bold leadership with unshakable optimism, the Baltimore Ravens today announced the hiring of Ted Lasso as the franchise’s new head coach.
Known worldwide for turning skepticism into belief and locker rooms into families, Lasso arrives in Baltimore with a coaching résumé that defies convention and expectations. From leading a struggling English football club to improbable success, to redefining what it means to coach with empathy, accountability, and relentless positivity, Lasso has built a reputation for winning hearts first—and games soon after.
“We’re not just hiring a football coach,” said Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta. “We’re bringing in a leader who understands culture, resilience, and how to get the best out of people. Ted’s track record shows that when players believe in each other, results follow.”
Lasso, a former American football coach who famously crossed the Atlantic to coach soccer with no prior experience in the sport, is no stranger to doubters. That history, however, is precisely what makes him a natural fit in Baltimore—a city built on grit, adaptability, and punching above its weight.
“I couldn’t be more excited,” Lasso said at his introductory press conference, sporting a Ravens hoodie and his trademark mustache. “Now I don’t know everything about the NFL—though I do know purple looks great on just about everybody—but I do know people. And I know that effort, kindness, and belief stack up just like wins do.”
Lasso emphasized mental toughness as a cornerstone of his philosophy, offering a familiar reminder to players and fans alike:
“Life’s gonna throw interceptions now and then. When that happens, you gotta be a goldfish—short memory, eyes forward, and keep swimming.”
As the Ravens turn the page to a new chapter, one thing is certain: M&T Bank Stadium is about to get a whole lot more belief, a little more laughter, and a team committed to being better every single day.
Because in Baltimore, the future just got curious—and that’s a very good thing.
